The effect of storage time on the physical properties of pea starch (PS) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) films and their blend was studied to develop biodegradable packaging materials for food applications. To this end, an analysis was performed of the microstructural and physical properties (solubility, moisture content, mechanical) of PS:PVA films . The surface of blend films was rougher in appearance, usually due to a certain degree of immiscibility between polymers and the co-existence of two phases: the PVA-rich phase and the PS-rich phase.
