In this research, palm kernel ash was applied for the removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solutions. The effects of variables such as pH, initial dye concentration, amount of adsorbent and contact time on MB removal were studied and optimized. Fitting the experimental equilibrium data to various isotherm models such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin and Dubinin- Radushkevich (D-R) models show the suitability and applicability of the Freundlich model with the highest correlation coefficients to elucidate experimental equilibrium data. The experimental data was analyzed by different kinetic models such as pseudo -first order, pseudo-second order, Elovich and intraparticle diffusion models. It was found that the second-order equation model is considered as the rate-limiting factor and control the kinetic of the adsorption process.
