Abstract Coatings based on Poly p-phenylenediamine–SiO2 nanoparticles (PSC) have been synthesized using in situ polymerization technique and found to be excellent corrosion inhibitor in aggressive environments. The corrosion studies were carried out on steel platelets coated by the neat Poly p-phenylenediamine and its nanocomposite having 10 Wt% of silica nanoparticles. The significant role of the silica nanoparticles on the overall performance of the synthesized coatings were highlighted owing to its influences on the barrier properties and prevention of charge transport.
