In this paper, we have studied the effect of external potential on the structure and layering phase transition of parallel hard cylinders in slit like pores. We used Density Functional Theory that it is based on the Onsager theory to obtain our results. Our result shows that the value of the contact density and the amount of oscillation are strongly dependent on the kind of external potential. In fact, they will be larger for Yukawa potential in comparison to the harmonic oscillator. Also the 8-9 layering phase transitions have been studied for two different external potentials, including Yukawa and harmonic oscillator, and the results have been compared with those for hard walls.
