Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs) were synthesized via oxidation-precipitation method. The structure, morphology and properties of Fe3O4 NPs were characterized by SEM, XRD and FT-IR techniques. The characterization results showed that Fe3O4 NPs were successfully prepared. Fe3O4 NPs indicated a high Fenton efficiency for the degradation of reactive red ME4BL (RRME4BL). Degradation of RRME4BL was achieved 93% within 120 min under optimal conditions of H2O2 (4mmol L-1), Fe3O4 NPs (4 mg), RRME4BL (100 mg L-1), pH=3 at room temperature. UV tests showed that the degradation of RRME4BL was finally produced CO2 and H2O.
