چكيده فارسي :
Ishiguro is sometimes referred to as a Postcolonial author, though he does not have memories of a homeland ravaged and exploited by the British Empire. This essay examines The Remains of the Day in the light of Postcolonialism in order to extrapolate the colonial dialectics of the conqueror and the indigence to the social binary of the master and the servant. The relationship between Lord Darlington and Stevens is compared to that of the colonizer and the colonized. Stevens is colonized in the sense that he is subjugated in various ways in order to be controlled by Lord Darlington and later by his American master Mr. Farraday. He has internalized the colonizer’s values and defends him
