In the current research paper, an analytical method is utilized in order to analyze and optimize the thermal efficiency in a furnace regenerator. Biomass fuel is the only renewable source of energy which is capable of replacing significant amounts of solid, liquid, and gaseous fossil fuels. Lycopodium particles are considered as the furnace fuel. A regenerator model is developed to investigate its efficiency with fossil fuels and Lycopodium particles. The proposed model is based on mass and energy balance equations. By applying Lycopodium particles, a small amount of released heat is consumed for its vaporization. Then, the flame temperature slightly reduces. A decrease in the flame temperature causes the flue gas temperature to reduce. Finally, the regenerator efficiency increases. The obtained results were compared to experimental data and good agreement was achieved.
