In this paper, a narrowband filter in microstrip technology, using stub loading and complementary split ring resonators (CSRR), is presented. The resonance frequency of the CSRR determines the narrow passband and the dimensions of the short-circuit stub and the microstrip line controls the optimum performance of the filter. In the present work, using two identical CSRR in the ground plane, a passband at 1.62 GHz is obtained. Two transmission zeros using short-circuited and open-circuited stubs are added which enhances the stopband. While the proposed filter has small dimensions, it demonstrates great selectivity and a large rejection level in the stopband. The fabricated prototype exhibits a great match with the simulation results.
