in this paper a novel layout is proposed for an extended composite right/left handed transmission lines (ECRLH-TLs) based on modified circuit model for dual band applications. The equivalent circuit utilized here to obtain the layout has only a single Chp/Lhp parallel resonator and on the other hand CSRR loaded on the ground plane is used as an alternative to realize one of the resonators of ECRLH-TL, therefore the overall length and complexity of the unitcell is decreased. As an example a dual band unitcell is designed under the balanced conditions. It is indicated that there is a good agreement between circuit and electromagnetic simulations in both pass bands.
