Chemical immobilization of the reaction system on the surface modified via nanometric thin film (self-assembled monolayer) SAM platforms has several advantages such as high resolution and reproducible (electrochemical or spectrochemicalanalytical) signals [1]. In this work, a new method is established for the electrochemical detection of zirconium ion (Zr(IV)) in the presence of Hafnium ion (Hf(IV)) based on square wave voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy methods, and hydroxamated gold surface recognition system. The method successfully served for the accumulation and recognition of Zr(IV) from the solution phase with a wide dynamic range and a low detection limit. Construction of the calibration curve by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method developed here helped us to save the experimental time by saving the data acquisition time, and further, eliminating data approximation and parameter extraction times. The validity of the method and applicability of the sensor were successfully tested by determining of Zr(IV) in industrial alloy without interference from sample matrix.
