A nanocomposite of ZnO and CoFe2O4 nanoparticles was synthesized with a facile preparation method in order to fabricate a modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) [1,2]. The ZnO nanoparticles was electrochemically deposited onto glassy carbon electrode (GCE) coated with magnetic nanoparticles CoFe3O4. The morphology and structure of ZnO/CoFe2O4 nanocomposite were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive x-ray (EDX). The performance of the modified electrode was characterized with cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques. The modified electrode shows excellent electrocatalytic activity for acetaminophen oxidation in phosphate buffer (pH=7) solution and it exhibits a good linear relationship and the low limit of detection. The CoFe3O4/ZnO/GCE showed good sensitivity, selectivity and stability, reproducibility, larger specific area, fast response. The nanocomposite modified glassy carbon electrode has been applied to the determination of acetaminophen in some real samples. This sensor showed a linear relationship in the range from 1×10−6 M to 1.23×10−5M and 1.23×10−5 M to 2.24×10-4 and the detection limit (S/N=3) was found to be 8.2×10−8 M.
