The Application of Wireless Sensor Technology in Diagnosis and Patient Care

Background: Today, mobile phones software are very diverse and applicable and are rapidly advancing in the field of health care. Communication systems based on wireless sensor technology for various applications are in progress. One of the diverse applications of wireless sensors for the diagnosis and care of patients. Wireless sensors information are sent via different ways including Bluetooth, WiFi, Internet or other communications networks to on-the-web server and Doctors can online carry out the necessary patient care and prevention. Objectives: This study is aimed to investigate the use of wireless sensors for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of various diseases. Its another goal is doctors and patients satisfaction from the communication system and wireless sensors. Methods: This paper is a review paper and that make use of valid library studies and search in databases such as IEEE, SCOPUS, Pubmed and Science direct. Results: Review previous works showed that the use of wireless sensors have key role in diagnosis and monitoring of the patients. By using wireless sensors, the patient can easily do its normal activities while the sensors information is sending automatically to the doctors and them can monitor him/her remotely. The use of wireless sensors is highly functional for care of chronic diseases including asthma, cancer, epilepsy, diabetes, allergies and cardiovascular and is important for the diagnosis of Parkinson s, Alzheimer s and infectious diseases is being used. According to studies, most patients who have used wireless sensors are satisfaction, there are few unsatisfactory reports which there are mostly due to not enough or week antenna coverage or not enough patient’s training. Conclusion: According to studies, wireless sensors are very useful in medicine. This technology can be effective in the sense of independence and patient safety and improve the quality of medical services. According to the functional and operational advantages of wireless sensor technologies, few of medical equipments use these systems, hence it is recommended that the technology be included in more health systems.
