Background: Today, healthy diet is the most important factor in the diabetes care. Therefore, it is important to find appropriate dietary with considering the unique characteristics of patients. While more people use cell phones in daily life, mobile-based programs can play an important role in promoting lifelong healthy eating and disease-management. So far, much research has been done to find the healthy diet for diabetes, according to them, we offer a mobile web application to determine the exact amounts of the foods to moderate consumption of protein and carbohydrates and limit intake of foods containing saturated fat and simple sugar.
Objectives: In this paper, a mobile application is designed to achieve optimal diet for people with different individual characteristics. This is done using linear programming method for analyzing the data in the web database. The software is easy to use and available to all people with diabetes.
Materials/Patients and Methods: We first reviewed the linear programming method and determined appropriate limits for nutrients. In addition, we defined an architecture for mobile computing and exchanging data with the web server. Database information has been adjusted with the help of library resources and journals. The MATLAB software used for solving the optimization problem and Android smart phone operating system has been selected to provide web based application.
Results: Due to the variety of food available in the daily diet and the need for adjustment based on the amount of daily intake of nutrients, the system is typically web based and saves the set of records from patients information (Including BMI, weight, height, etc.). As result data analysis can provide information and dietary advice to improve the eating habits.
Conclusion: Using optimization algorithms and linear programming in the mobile application to minimize saturated fats and simple sugars, help patients find the best diet according to the conditions and facilities. In the other word these algorithms by using information and communication technology can raise knowledge and awareness of diabetes and facilitate the treatment and control of disease.
