Synthesis, characterization and toxicity investigation of functionalized Single-walled Carbon Nanotube with 4-hydroxycyclooct-2-enone

In this study, we functionalized carboxylated single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT-COOH) with 4-hydroxycyclooct-2-enone. The product was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and cellular investigations. The results showed well formation of SWNT-Ester. The results of cell viability assay and microscopic observations demonstrated that cancerous cells have been killed at the presence of sample.
