Mental factors can be mood, anxiety level, knowledge, and experience or physical conditions. Linguistic Relativity and Cultural Relativity claim that underlying factors such as culture and language immensely affect the progress, to the point of shaping and limiting our perceptions and choices. By identifying the factors and their degree, we can actively improve the process of decision-making and make decisions more consciously. Acquisition of a second language introduces us to a new language as well as a new culture. As a result, SLA (Second Language Acquisition) should have a significant impact on how we perceive the world and interact with it. We expect that SLA will minimize bias and allow for an accepting and more open-minded view toward the world.
