The high motivation of student in learning English as foreign language in both monolingual and bilingual brings them to a success. With regard to importance of motivation, this study aims to compare 4 types of motivation (intrinsic, extrinsic, instrumental, and integrative) between monolinguals and bilinguals learning English a foreign language. A sample of 30 under-graduated female students of the University of Bojnourd, 15 of them were monolinguals (Persian) and 15 of them were balanced bilinguals (Persian and Kurdish), were given a four point Likert scale questionnaire. To investigate whether or not there were any significant relation between monolinguals and bilingual’s motivation, T-Test was used to analyzed obtained data. The result reveals that the motivational differences between the monolingual and bilingual are minimal, it is also concluded that there is no significant difference between monolinguals’ and bilinguals’ motivation. This finding may have pedagogical implication for teachers and second language learners.
