This study investigates the interference of first language in second language learning by examining learning vocabulary through using two different mediums of instruction. In this study, I have two groups of students, A B that are going to be taught in different mediums of instruction. Group A will be taught in mere English language while group B will be taught in both English and Persian languages. First, we hold a pre-test exam in order to evaluate the students’ vocabulary knowledge. Then the students will be taught in the so-called order. At the end, we hold a post-test to evaluate the learning process. The aim of this study is basically to examine which way of L2 vocabulary presentation is more helpful for L2 learners and to observe whether using two different mediums of instruction makes any significant difference considering the notion of interference of L1 in second language learning.
