In today Pyro system industries, many plants are looking for ways to reduce their gaseous emissions to comply with new environmental regulations. In Iran, dust control (dedusting) keeps the most focus of the plants till now, however, today we see a new regulation is coming up for gaseous pollutant which in reality absorbing more attention of international environmental societies because of the direct strong effect on the living style and people health issues. FLSmidth Airtech as a part of FLSmidth group is the market leader for both dust and gaseous emission control technology. The objective is to show how we reduce overall industrial sulfur emissions in pelletizing plants by introducing 3 cases in following segments. To accomplish this, a semi-dry system called a Gas Suspension Absorber (GSA) was used as an alternative to a more costly wet scrubber. The GSA system has been commissioned and optimized during many years and initial test results indicate that the plants will achieve their new emissions targets for SO2, as well as reducing emissions of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and hydrofluoric acid (HF). Some of the plants are also well positioned to reduce mercury emissions in the future with the addition of shuttling or wasting dust from the dust collector after the GSA.
