histopathological effects of Nano silver on bursa of fabricius and thymus in broiler chicks

Objectives: Nanotechnology is the most promising field for generating new applications In the most of science branchs. Silver is known for its medicinal properties, specially as an anti-microbial agent, but it may be toxic when it is in ionic state. However, the toxicity of Ag can be eliminated when used in nanoparticle form.Materials and methods: The study included 240 1-day-old male (Ross 308) broiler chicks with 4 treatment and 2 control groups at the levels of 0 ppm (control 1 with vaccine),0 ppm (control 2 without vaccine) and each of the 4 treatments with dose of 2ppm that silver nano particles were added to the intake of water, Each consisting of 4 replicates in completely randomized design (CRD) and 10 birds in each pen. Body wight, feed intake, feed conversion rate were measured and FCR calculated at 42 days of age. Then, two pieces with average weight of each pen were selected and were killed. Bursa of Fabricius and Thymus samples were isolated and they were fixed in 10% formalin buffer;then they were sent to the pathology laboratory for the preparation of tissue sections with a thickness of 5 micronsThis research was approved by faculty of veterinary medicine IslamicAzadUniversity, Sanandaj branchResults Conclusion: Histopathological results of this study showed that the addition of 2ppm nano silver to drinking water for broiler chickens in both group (control group and treatment group) causes Hyperemia and brief bleeding tissue, however, edema and Lymphoid depletion were happened .In some cases, it causes Follicular cystsin Bursa of Fabricius and thymus hyperemia.
