Objectives: Nanoparticles can separate from their origins, moving in tissues of organisms like wild and domestic birds through surface and underground waters. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether nano-Cuo administration is toxic to in Homing pigeons (Columba livia f. domestica). Materials Methods: Two low doses namely 5 and 10 ppm of nano-Cuo were orally given to animal model viz. domestic pigeons by gavage 3 times a day for a period of 21 days. Food and water gave to animals ad libitum. The oxidative stress biomarkers via the amount of lipoperoxidation and the activities of catalase (CAT) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) were measured in pigeon liver and blood sera spectrometrically.Results and Conclusion: nano-Cuo related toxicity in both doses elevated the amount of oxidative stress biomarkers in pigeon liver and blood sera samples. Amongst, increase in GST specific activity as an antioxidant enzyme was not significant (p 0.05). When nano-Cuo move in environment can impose severe oxidative stress and physiological alterations in organisms particularly birds.
