قير با توجه به خواص فيزيكي و مكانيكي خود از قابليت كاربردي محدود و زمان سرويس دهي مشخص برخوردار است پوشش راهها به دليل عبور ترافيك سنگين شرايط جوي و دچار استهلاك و تغيير خواص و تخريب تدريجي روكش راه ها مي گردد تكرار پوشش آسفالت مجدد نيز داراي هزينه بالا و دردسرهاي خاص خود ميباشد استفاده از مواد و مصالح مختلف در بهبود خصوصيات رفتاري قير همواره مدنظر محققان زيادي بوده است تا با اينچنين راهكارهايي عمر روسازي هاي آسفالتي را افزايش داد پليمرها و ضايعات آن ها و ضايعات پلاستيكي به عنوان مهمترين خانواده اصلاح كننده قير به منظور بهبود عملكرد و افزايش كارايي قيربه آن اضافه مي شوند كه درميان انواع پليمرهاي موجود پليمر استايرن بوتادين استايرن SBS ازجمله بهترين مواد اصلاح كننده قير به شمار مي روددر اين مقاله تاثير انواع پليمرها تازه توليد شده و ضايعات پليمرها و ضايعات پلاستيكي كه همواره نگراني از جهت مديريت اين ضايعات بخصوص در كارخانجات وجود دارد را با انواع مختلف تركيب ها مورد بررسي قرار خواهيم داد
