In the recent years, in several engineering applications, the traditional materials like steel or
metal alloys are widely used together with composite materials to obtain hybrid structures. Fiber metal
laminates (FMLs) are considered as an important type of these hybrid structures. In the present paper,
experimental study was performed in order to investigate the mechanical properties of FMLs subjected
to standard static and dynamic loading conditions. The FMLs are made of three and five alternative
layers of 430 stainless steel sheets and glass fiber prepreg reinforced composite (G10). The specimens
were subjected to tensile, flexural and impact tests according to ASTM standards. The effect of
stacking sequence of the layers on the mechanical properties of the resulting FML, are experimentally
investigated. The experimental results revealed that the stacking sequence has a significant effect on
the mechanical properties of FMLs
