The adhesive fillet geometry is one of the main factors affecting the overall strength of adhesively bonded joints which is commonly formed during the curing procedure and assembly of the joints. In this paper, the effect of incorporating metallic bars in the adhesive fillet on the stress distribution along the adhesive layer has been studied by alternating the geometry of metallic components as a part of fillet or whole fillet at the extremities of the joints. Six types of steel components were embedded in the fillet of the joints. The numerical analyses were undertaken considering both geometrical and material nonlinearities to obtain the failure loads of the reinforced joints. The validity of numerical results were evaluated by comparing the numerical results with the experiments available in literature. It was revealed that the joint strength was increased up to 45% by introducing the steel bars in the fillets.
