It the current work, different composite samples have been fabricated through mixing and stirring 1wt.% of milled E-glass, S-glass, and high strength carbon fibers with a commercial hot-cure epoxy resin. The effects of performing a medium pressure degassing treatment and integral blending of a silane coupling agent were evaluated based on the flexural properties of the samples. After conducting the three-point bend tests, the fractured surfaces were investigated by a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to find the involved toughening mechanisms. According to the results, interface de-bonding, fiber pull-out, and fish-bone mechanisms were activated in numerous sites. Furthermore, the flexural properties of the silane-modified and degassed epoxy reinforced with the milled E-glass fiber were improved more than that of the other composite samples and the pure epoxy.
