استفاده از آب در تمام صنايع امري رايج بوده و بدون حضور اين ماده حياتي، انجام فعاليت‌هاي صنعتي و معدني غيرممكن خواهد بود. به عقيده بيشتر كارشناسان آب، كمبود منابع آب يكي از چالش‌هاي مهم قرن حاضر كشور به شمار مي‌رود. آب، چالش‌هاي عديده را در كشور در جنبه‌هاي مختلف فردي، اقتصادي، اجتماعي، فرهنگي، طبيعي، زيست ‌محيطي و... به وجود آورده است. بخش معدن و صنايع معدني كشور نيز از اين چالش‌ها در امان نبوده است وبعضا بنا به دلايلي همچون خشكسالي، مسائل سياسي و... اين بخش از صنعت با مشكلاتي به ويژه در بخش اقتصادي روبرو است. در مجموعه‌هاي معدني، آب به طور كلي در عمليات فرآوري(خردايش، جدايش، پر عيار‌سازي و انتقال)، شبكه‌هاي خنك‌كننده، دفع گردو غبار (كارخانه‌هاي فرآوري، نوار‌هاي نقاله و راه‌ها)، حمل‌ونقل كنسانتره و باطله به شكل اسلاري، شست و شوي تجهيزات، آب بهداشتي و شرب مورد استفاده قرار مي‌گيرد. آب به عنوان يك نهاده توليد همچون نيروي كار، سرمايه، انرژي و مواد اوليه براي بخش معدن لازم و ضروري است و همچون ساير نهاد‌ه ها بهبود مديريت و افزايش بهره‌ وري از آن به ويژه در حال حاضر كه اغلب كشور ها با مشكل كمبود آب روبرو هستند از اهميت قابل توجهي برخوردار است بنابراين با توجه به اهميت آب و لزوم وجود آن براي بقاي بخش معدن نياز است برنامه مديريت آب در معادن كشور با الگوبرداري از كشورهاي موفق در اين زمينه پيگيري شود چراكه كاهش مصرف آب در صنايع از هر راهي كه امكان‌پذير باشد، منافع فراواني را هم براي خود صنعت و هم براي جامعه و اقتصاد كشور در بر خواهد داشت

According to most water experts, water scarcity is one of the key challenges of the present century. Water has created many challenges in the country in various aspects of individual, economic, social, cultural, natural, environmental and etc. The mining and mineral sector of the country has not been immune to these challenges, and due to reasons such as drought, political issues and etc this part of the industry have some serious problem particular in the its economic sector. In mining, water is generally used in processing operations (comminution, separating, filling and transferring), cooling networks, dust removal (processing plants, conveyor belts and roads), transportation of concentrates and waste in the form of slurry, washing equipment, Water sanitation and drinking. Water is necessary as an input for production, such as labor, capital, energy and raw materials for the mining sector, and, as with other inputs, improve management and increase productivity, especially now that most countries face the problem of water scarcity they are of considerable importance. Therefore, given the importance of water and the need for it to survive the mining, a water management program in the country s mines should be followed up with a model of successful countries in this regard, since reducing water consumption in the industry, in every possible way, has a great deal of benefit for The industry itself and the country s economy and society.
