Mesoporous silica (MS) has been one of the most versatile and successful adsorbents for the removal of environmental pollutants in recent years. N,N-Dimethylglycine functionalized MCM-41 silicas with uniform mesoporosity were prepared and employed for removing of heavy metal ions from ternary aqueous solution. The MCM-41 was synthesized by microwave hydrothermal method and reduced synthesis time by 100 times. We had studied the important parameters such as contact time and initial pH of the solution on the adsorption process. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm techniques were used to characterize the obtained product.
