A surfactant factionalized ma g n e t i c mesopores titanium with layered double hydroxide
(Fe3O4@MCM@TiO2@LDH) was synthesized for the removal of cationic dye, methylene
blue from waste wa t e r samples. This adsorbent prepared with a Tio2 loaded on
mesopore (MCM-41) was coated with Fe3O4 as the main core and encapsulated in Cu-
Fe-layered double hydroxide (Cu-Fe-LDH) as nano platelet shell. An anionic
surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was used to modify the positive adsorbent
by through hemimicelles/admicelles process. T h e surface chemical characteristics of
the prepared Fe3O4@MCM@TiO2@LDH were studied by the IR, XRD, and EDX
analytical techniques. Also, the surface morphology of adsorbent, the BET specific surface area
and BJH pore sizes were obtained. The effect of effective parameters for the removal the dye
was also studied. The adsorption data fitted wi th the Langmuir model showed short
equilibrium time with the maximum capacity uptake of 217.39 mg g-1. Regeneration
of the adsorbent was performed with methanol.
