We first introduce the resolvent operator for a set-valued nonexpansive mapping T. Then, we study the weak and
strong convergence of the orbits of the resolvent operator to a fixed point of the original mapping T. Finally, we apply the results
for approximating a solution of a variational inequality associated with a certain set-valued mapping.
