The goal of smart cities is supporting a high-quality and sustainable lifestyle for citizens. The next generation of electrical production and distribution systems is called smart grid which consists of two critical infrastructures, electric energy and information and telecommunication. Because of capability for delivering quality power without compromising energy efficiency, smart grid can fulfill smart cities goal. Nowadays supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems are critical information structures which play a vital role in managing many of today’s critical infrastructures. SCADA is a kind of Industrial control systems which is one of the important types of critical information infrastructures and also is the core of smart grid. Although these systems are designed to support modern society, they are exposed to numerous threats themselves. This paper examines security management solutions for SCADA system in smart grid. It examines security life cycle in this system. The paper also introduces a model for security management of supervisory control and data acquisition systems. The model is based on a security life cycle framework; and plan, do, check, and act process. Finally, with regard to this survey and for more investigation in future researches some issues suggested.
