Reservoir characterization is one of the most challenging subjects in oil reservoirs simulation. In the topic of simulating oil reservoirs, determining and categorizing the type of rock in the oil reservoir is very important and has a great impact on the simulation results of the oil reservoir. Therefore, the type of reservoir rock is of great importance. In this study, FZI (Flow Zone Index) and Multivariate Regression Analysis methods were used to classify rock typing in an Iranian oil field. The results showed that the reservoir rock through FZI (Flow Zone Index), and Multivariate Regression Analysis methods, were separated to the 6 and 5 rock types, respectively. In addition, the average permeability and average porosity for each rock type and also each method were calculated and compared. Comparing each method showed its accuracy and precision than the other methods.
