In this paper, a non-hydrostatic two-dimensional vertical (2DV) numerical model is developed to study the sloshing phenomena in a partially filled tank with and without porous material. The extended Navier- Stokes equations, in which the resistance to flow is considered by including the additional terms of drag and inertia forces, have been deployed for the porous media. A fractional step scheme (projection method) is deployed for solving the set of equations in two major steps. The finite volume method (FVM) is utilized to discretize flow and transport equations in an arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) description. The newly developed model predictions show good agreements with the analytical solutions and experimental measurements of free surface water displacements.
