It is environmentally important to remove dyes from natural and wastewaters[1, 2].At present, magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles have been extensively studied, as a new sorbent, for the isolation and pre-concentration of chemical compounds such as metals,dyes,herbicides, and biological species.Magnetic nano particles (MNPs) are super paramagnetic at room temperature and can be easily attracted to the external magnetic field so they are convenient for pollutant removal due to no centrifugation or filtrations are needed [3, 4].
Th e main purpose of this study was the synthesizing of the MNPs of Fe3O4 for the removal of Acid Red 88 (AR88) as an acid/ or azo dye from aqueous solutions by a simple and facile adsorption process.In order to enhance the efficiency of AR88 removal, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloroferrate (Bmim[FeCl4]) was also used as a magnetic ionic liquid because of its interesting physical-chemical properties [5]. Th e influence of important variables such as pH and temperature of solution, contact time, ionic liquid and sorbent dosages were investigated and optimized. Also, the thermodynamic parameters were studied and isotherm models were used to evaluate the equilibrium adsorption process.Finally, this method was used for the removal of AR88 from real water samples of Chalous River and a comparison study was performedbetween the results of this work and those of other researches.
