Scheduling is resource allocation for implementation of a set of tasks during time. Since time is always a limited resource, activities must be scheduled to be sure of optimal resource consumption. In this paper, a mixed integer linear programming model, based on the production line of brewery factory (malt extract and beer production), is presented in order to determine the optimal production scheduling and lot-sizing in continuous manufacturing systems.
The proposed model solved by “GAMS” software. In the final step, sensitivity analysis was performed for the mathematical model. By solving the model was determined that; how many of each product, at what time and on what line in the factory should be produced to minimize the total changeover, inventory holding and variable costs of the production.
