Gardener Problem (the newsboy problem with random yield) is one of the popular topics in inventory control intoday’s global economy. In this paper we investigate a variation of the Gardener Problem in which a fraction ofshortages are backlogged and replenished through an outsourcing process among multi suppliers in the middle of theconsidered period. Available acreage for planting and budget for outsourcing are limited. We first formulate problemin a non-linear integer-programming model and then solve a numerical example with GAMS 23.5.2. Finally asensitivity analysis of the total cost with respect to changes in parameters is developed
