An Etymological Approach to Typology of Verbal Violence focused on the Concept of ‘Speaking’

در حالي كه در عصر حاضر مسئله خشونت كلامي در بوته توجه انديشمندان و كنشگران اجتماعي قرار گرفته، در طول تاريخ كمتر نسبت به اين موضوع بذل توجه شده و خودآگاهي وجود داشته است. پژوهش حاضر بر آن است تا به اين پرسش پاسخ دهد كه چگونه مي‌توان از طريق كاوش ارتباط‌هاي ريشه‌شناختي ميان مفهوم سخن گفتن و انواع خشونت، درك اقوام كهن از خشونت‌ورزي و سطوح مختلف آن را بازشناسي كرد و از آن به عنوان ابزاري براي مقايسه انديشه‌هاي كهن درباره خشونت بهره جست. در اين پژوهش نخست مباني نظري خشونت براي رسيدن به مؤلفه‌هاي كليدي كاويده مي‌شود و سپس با تكيه بر ريشه‌شناسي و روش‌هاي معناشناسي تاريخي، داده‌هاي زبان‌هاي مختلف در چارچوب مؤلفه‌هاي ياد شده تحليل مي‌گردند.

Verbal violence is a major concern for contemporary thinkers and social activists. More importantly, in the course of history, no attention was given to such studies and no attempt was made in developing the people’s level of self-awareness. The main focus of this study is to reexamine the ancient people’s understanding of verbal violence and its levels through investigating the etymological connections between the concept of speaking and any type of what is nowadays called violence. In this study, primarily, the theoretical principles of violence are summed up to reach the key components required for detecting various kinds and levels of violence and make a taxonomic framework to categorize all the historical samples. Further, on the basis of the etymological and historical semantic methods, the data gathered from various languages are analyzed, taking advantage of the taxonomic framework, to make a language-based comparison between relevant cultures considering the attitude toward several levels of violence.
