In recent years performing the remote sensing survey as an efficient way in reconnaissance of prone areas of surface mineralization was taking into consideration Chromite mineralization in the ultramafic parts of ophiolite complexes could be distinguished with remote sensing surveys. This study focused on the identifying chromite mineralized zones with using of Aster satellite data in the east of Hormozgan province and near Rodan city. Most of the considering area covered with Makran structural zone. The Makran zone included ophiolite, ophiolite mélanges, colored mélanges and Raliolarite limestone. Several methods of image processing such as geometric and radiometric corrections, combined band ratio and matched filtering used for detecting of chromite anomalies. One of the new methods for identifying ophiolite units – as the most obvious hosts of chromite was used of geological components. In this method, components of quartz, carbonatites and mafic and also with combining these components used in false colored combination method. The results of satellite imagery compared with geologic maps and several points selected for ground checking. According to existing geological data and implementation of remote sensing results, the points of severe anomalies distinguished and results of this combination presented the correlation between chromite aggregation and overlapping that with anomaly points. Finally using of remote sensing methods on Aster satellite indicated that can separate chromite host rock from other geologic units which this method caused more saving in time and costs of exploration projects.
