An experimental study of propanol adsorption from single and binary component solutions on a synthesized silicalite adsorbent in liquid phase was carried out. The kinetic and adsorption isotherm of propanol from solution onto a hydrophobic silicalite in room temperature was investigated. The silicalite adsorbent with intracrystal mesopores was successfully synthesized using in-situ formed carbon-based template, which was obtained from the carbonization of soluble starch trapped in silica mesophase. The results show that the silicalite adsorbent has high capacity toward propanol and the kinetic experiments show that the propanol adsorption onto silicalite is first order.
