In this paper, we investigated the elecrocatalytic stability of PCN-222 for oxygen reduction reaction in
acidic fuel cells. The 3D heme-like metal organic framework (MOF) was synthesized from tetrakis(4-
carboxyphenyl)porphyrin iron(III) chloride and Zr6 clusters for the assembly of the stable porous
coordination network. The catalyst stability tests disclosed that the PCN-222 is much more stable than the
other metal macrocycles. The assembled metal organic framework catalyst possesses high activity, good
long-term stability, excellent tolerance to the crossover effect of methanol and a facile electron pathway
for oxygen reduction reaction, which could be used as a promising noble metal-free catalyst in an acidic
direct methanol fuel cell.
