Closed cell Al/SiC composite foams are manufactured by using the casting method. The composite foams are made of aluminum foam with the addition of different concentration of SiC (5, 10, 15 vol%). The effect of strain rate on compressive behavior of the composite foams are investigated. The experimental results show that the yield stress of Al/SiC composite foams increases with increasing strain rate. increasing the strain rate results in the decrease in deformation ability and increase in strength. The strain rate also has large effect on stress-strain curve and the length of plateau region is decreased with increasing the strain rate.
