Aluminum foams are group of metal foams and the most important with several applications. In this research Al/SiC composite foams are produced by casting in which foaming factor is CaCO3 and by addition of different concentration of SiC (5, 10, 15 vol%). The effects of SiC on compressive behavior of the composite foams are investigated. Results show that the yield stress of Al/SiC composite foams with different SiC content increases with increase of the volume fraction of SiC particles. Under external load, SiC particles pin the crossing dislocations and alter plastic Al foams into brittle composite foams; therefore the yield stress of foams increases with increasing the SiC content.
