Characterization of some almost simple unitary groups by their complex group algebras

‎It has been recently proved by Tong-Viet [{\it J‎. ‎Algebra} {\bf 357} (2012) pp‎. ‎61-68] that non-abelian simple groups are uniquely determined by the structure of their complex group algebras‎. ‎In this paper‎, ‎we survey the recent improvements of Tong-Viet s result‎, ‎including our recent work on extending this result to some almost simple groups of Lie type‎. ‎In particular‎, ‎we show that some almost simple unitary groups are uniquely determined by the structure of their complex group algebras‎.
