Study of fluorophores applications in medical biotechnology

The investigation of many fundamental processes in the cells relies on the fast, sensitive, reliable and reproducible detection of the interplay of biomolecules with one another and with various ionic or molecular species. Fluorescence techniques are very well suited to realize these goals. Fluorescent compounds used in this techniques such as Fluorescent Proteins (FP) and synthetic chemical fluorophores (Fluorescent dye) are powerful tools to visualize biological events in living cells and organisms. In this review, we first discuss the basic concepts of fluorescent process and important considerations in selection of a fluorophore. Then, we review different types of fluorophore and their usage in medical biotechnology. Finally, we briefly discuss about comparing between various kinds of fluorophore in biological studies.
