The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between reading
strategies and translation strategies used by intermediate EFL learners. In order
to conduct this study, 80 Iranian intermediate EFL males at Shokouh Language
Institute of Khoramabad, aged between 14 and 20 and homogenized based on a
proficiency test, were selected as the participants. Then, the reading strategies and
translation strategies questionnaires were administered to the sample. Finally,
Pearson’s correlation coefficient was computed to see how the scores on the two
questionnaires were correlated. The outcome of this study indicated that there was
a significant relationship between reading strategies and translation strategies
used by Iranian intermediate EFL learners.
