وضعيت خشكسالي رو به رشد كشور و در پي آن شور شدن آب و خاك و تاثيرات آن بر خصوصيات فيزيولوژيك گياهان انجام تحقيقات مختلف در اين زمينه را ضروري مي‏كند. در مقاله حاضر اثر شوري آب آبياري بر خاك و خصوصيات فيزيولوژيك گياهي (وزن خشك ريشه، قطر ساقه و برگ و ساير خصوصيات گياه) در تحقيقات انجام شده در نقاط مختلف كشور مورد بررسي قرار گرفت. با توجه به تحقيقات انجام شده در نقاط مختلف كشور مي‏توان با اعمال مديريت مناسب اعم از آبشويي، انتخاب سيستم آبياري مناسب و انتخاب گياه مناسب اثرات شوري را كاهش داد. با روش‏هاي آبياري كه در آن‏ها حجم آب بيشتري استفاده مي‏شود چون روش سطحي (فارو) و روش تحت فشار باراني، افزايش تراكم كشت يا افزايش سطح زير كشت، كارايي مصرف آّب و عملكرد محصول افزايش مي‏يابد. استفاده همزمان چند مورد از عوامل موثر بر افزايش كارايي مصرف آّب وعملكرد محصول تاثير مفيدتري را نخواهد داشت.
