Since the methods of detecting the number of narrowband signals cannot determine the number of wideband sources, a new approach that combines one of the RSS or ISM algorithms with one of the MDL, AIC, EGM and EIT criteria is presented. In this paper, two new methods for estimating the number of wideband sources are proposed. Numerical results show that RSS-based algorithm offers higher detection probability for wideband sources with respect to ISM-based one. In both algorithms, for small differences between the incident angles of sources, MDL and EIT have a much better detection performance than EGM. Also, by extracting the number of multiplications, divisions, additions and subtractions, it can be seen that, RSS has a heavy computational complexity than ISM. In addition, the effect of bandwidth on the performance of RSS-EIT and ISMEIT and ISMEIT and ISMEIT and ISMEIT and ISMEIT and ISMEIT and ISM EIT and ISMEIT and ISMEIT and ISM-EIT algoEIT algoEIT algoEIT algorithms is studied and computer simulation results show that proposed algorithms offer much better performance when bandwidth reduces from 40 Hz to 1Hz.
