In this work, Graphene oxide sheets and nickel (Ni) foam were used as supporting substrate for Pt nanoparticles by a facile, low cost and scalable chemical route. Characterization results indicated that graphene sheets are deposited on the pores’ walls of the Ni foam while the pores are open for gas diffusion and interaction with the graphene sheets. The prepared Pt/graphene- Ni nanocomposite was used as a catalyst for carbon monoxide degradation. Our results showed that this nanocomposite can degrade the CO gas even in moderate temperature of about 200 0C. This high catalytic activity can be attributed to good catalytic performance of the Pt nanoparticles and excellent affinity of the graphene sheets to Ni substrate along with porosity of the foam.
