چكيده لاتين :
Sexual dimorphism is a common phenomenon among animals that is found in some Iranian freshwater fishes such as Aphanius arakensis. This study was conducted to study the body shape sexual dimorphism in this species using landmark-based geometric morphometric method. A total of 60 specimens of A. arakensis from the Shour River of Eshtehard were collected using a dip net. The left side of specimens was photographed using a digital camera and 15 landmark-points were digitized on the obtained 2D pictures using TpsDig2 software. The landmark data after GPA, were analyzed and compared using DFA and T-test hoteling methods. Then the consensus body shape of males and females were visualized using MorphoJ software. There was a significant difference between the body shape of males and females. The results revealed that in habitats with low species richness and high number of individuals, natural selection allows to those species to survive if they share food and living space due to sexual dimorphism to minimize ecological crossings between theirselves.
