A computationally effective thermodynamic model has been applied, as a powerful predic ive tool, to a ternary system comprised of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)/poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc)/dioctyl phthalate (DOP). Based on Flory-Huggins lattice model, compressible regular solution model is shown to be able to predict qualitatively the role of dissimilarities of components in terms of PVT behavior while solely drawing on pure component properties such as cohesive energy density and hardcore density. In spite of the soul dependence of this model upon pure component properties, increased input parameter sensitivity of the output results is also noticed
