Riser-slugging is a flow regime that can occur in multiphase pipeline-riser systems, and is characterized by severe flow and pressure oscillations. This causes large problems in downstream facilities such as: separators on the platform. Reducing undesired slugging effects can have great economic benefits. In this research a technique to remove severe slugging in the pipeline systems by using of an active bypass or self-lifting method has been investigated. A simplified dynamic model has been developed for the simulation of applying self-lifting method in pipeline risers. The proposed simple model has been compared with the rigorous model suggested in the literature as well as OLGA simulator. The simulation results show that the simple model presented in this work has a good agreement with the above mentioned rigorous models.
