In this research, the simulation of two phase bubbly flow in an external airlift reactor using
computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was carried out. The CFD simulation covered a variety of
design parameters including the length of connection tubes ( c L ), height of riser and downcomer
( h L ). Three different c L
and h L were used to determine the effects of them on hydrodynamic of
an external reactor. The results demonstrated increasing c L and h L seemed to increase liquid
velocity and decrease the overall gas holdup. The simulation results were compared with the
experimental results and were found good agreement
